Rows of naked faces—no one sees me now—

absorbed before the actors, titillated by tragedy,

while I’m safe in Row 25, you in Row 24,

another single ticket holder I noticed in the lobby.

What a performance! I’m squirming in my seat,

having become a wave, now sweeping back to shore.

One day, might we meet? I’ll drop a playbill by your feet.

You’ll reach. Hand bump. Seconds lagoon. Say hi in the eddy.
